VP of Agency Business Development

This is a full-time, remote position. This position can work from anywhere within the United States and will report directly to the Chief Revenue Officer.

 

Job Description

The VP of Agency Business Development is responsible for driving the overall business growth strategy while leading by example, directly contributing to new client acquisition, sales, and helping shape a high-performing sales team. Reporting directly to the Chief Revenue Officer, the VP will collaborate closely with the leadership team to establish key growth targets, identify high-potential opportunities, and drive sustainable business growth.

This role requires a leader who excels at crafting strategic growth plans and rolling up their sleeves to execute those plans alongside their team. You will be instrumental in identifying new revenue opportunities, managing client relationships, and mentoring a high-energy, results-driven business development team.This position requires a strategic thinker, a hands-on leader, and a passion for innovation in sales and marketing.

Compensation:Base salary range of $175,000 – $185,000 plus commission. Commission based on achievement to targets and is uncapped.*

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Oversight:

  • Develop and execute a robust business development and growth strategy that aligns with company goals and drives long-term, sustainable expansion.
  • Create a clear roadmap for increasing revenue and diversifying client portfolios.
  • Represent We Are Rosie at industry events, conferences, and public speaking engagements to build the company’s brand and reputation.

Player/Coach:

  • Lead from the front of the jersey by actively engaging in the sales process, including prospecting, pitching, and closing new business opportunities
  • Oversee and participate in the preparation and development of high-impact proposals, RFP responses, and pitches that effectively position We Are Rosie as the ideal partner.
  • Actively manage and close high-value, strategic deals and assist the team during critical negotiations.
  • Develop, refine, and implement sales strategies and techniques, ensuring the team follows best practices while driving client acquisition.
  • Directly support the team in securing meetings, crafting proposals, and delivering presentations, providing hands-on coaching and guidance.
  • Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing sales team, nurturing their professional growth through coaching, training, and feedback.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Spend time in person with clients to build trusted relationships and ensure satisfaction and long-term loyalty.
  • Establish and nurture strong, long-term relationships with C-Suite executives, key decision-makers, and influencers in target industries.
  • Act as the main point of contact of escalation for client concerns, offering strategic solutions and maintaining client trust.

Revenue & Profitability Management:

  • Manage overall revenue growth and ensure new business deals align with the company’s financial goals and profitability targets.
  • Develop and report on sales forecasts, pipeline health, and revenue projections to the executive team.
  • Identify areas for improvement in sales margins, negotiate contracts effectively, and ensure business deals are sustainable and profitable.

Operational Excellence:

  • Hold the team accountable for following the processes within the We Are Rosie Business Development Playbook.
  • Partner with Revenue Operations to implement systems to track revenue performance and client success.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring the team has the tools, resources, and training to succeed.
  • Track and assess the performance of the Growth team.

Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:

  • Work closely with the marketing team to ensure lead generation strategies, messaging, and content are aligned with sales efforts.
  • Collaborate with the Client Experience and Operations teams to ensure a seamless transition from sales to project execution, maintaining client satisfaction throughout.
  • Partner with finance to set appropriate pricing models and ensure profitability in new business deals.
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in business development, sales leadership, and new client acquisition, ideally in a B2B context within the marketing and advertising industry (agency experience preferred).
  • Strategic thinker who can translate high-level business goals into actionable growth strategies and sales plans.
  • A strong track record of securing high-value deals and managing key client relationships
  • Live rolodex of executive and C-level F1000 clients.
  • Hands-on sales experience – you should be comfortable leading by example, prospecting, qualifying leads, pitching, negotiating, and closing deals alongside your team.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with experience building and mentoring a high-performing sales and business development team.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage senior-level executives and decision-makers.
  • Strong proficiency with CRM tools and sales pipeline management software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive).
  • Strong understanding of marketing operations, creative processes, digital marketing, branding, and other key agency services.
  • Strong collaborator and partner.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a passion for creativity and innovation.
  • Willing to travel.
